  • DNS server 2003 is caching-only..

    Hi,

I have a DNS server 2003 setup. I have event 708 in the eventviewer. Basically saying that this is a caching-only server. There is no other server at the moment, and no other dns-server at the moment either.

Can I convert the caching-only to become a primary, or should I re-install the DNS server again?

    Thanks.

Not too sure about that one. Is it your DC? Is it a production server? If not then i would uninstall dns and reinstall it.

That means in hosts no zones at all. Sure, you can add zones if you like!
