  • Remote access problem exchange server2003

I just started at a new client and have a question. The previous Admin was removed from the company and had remote access. My office has people from downstairs VPN upstairs to get data. If I disable remote access shouldn't it also disable the VPN access? I am totally new just out of college. As of now I am a little unsure. Please any suggestions would help. I do not know his user ID or if he has any other ways of accessing data.

i think that is the point of a VPN, is that the clients arent treated as remote, because they are assigned an IP from the internal scope via RAS or your VPN appliance...

what you can do is remove their dial-in permissions. this will disable them from connecting via VPN at all, asuming you utilize your DC for RAS/RADIUS services.
its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

Thank you for the quick reply James I really appreciate the help. I thought I would be adding and removing users and this was just a bit confusing as I have never been asked to perform such a duty. You are a blessing.
