  • Moving DFS Namespace to anothor Drive.

    Hi All ,

I have a standlone DFS at my File Server , Now I need to move that namespace folder to other drive as that drive is too big , want to reduce down the size , so that can be utililize for other data.

    e.g \\servername\dfsroot ---- c:\dfsroot I need to move to d:\dfsroot.

Please help me out... thanks in advance.

Do you have to move the root? Surely its the shares within it that have the size?
My root is size zero and just contains links to the content shares.

Remove one content share from DFS, drop the shared folder and recreate in another drive, re-add to DFS and let replication populate it.

If I'm not mistaken, adding another root and setting up replication are both impossible with a standalone DFS root implementation. You may have to create a new root temporarily on another server, manually replicate the data, and then recreate the root on the new drive on the original server and manually replicate the data back.
