  • DNS problem

    Hi,

I have a 2003 server running AD and DNS. My server IP is 192.168.160.7. If i run nslookup from the server i get this error "can't find server name for address 192.168.0.1 : no response from server"
I do not get this from a client pc. In DNS there is an entry for 192.168.0.1. I didn't put it there, and if i delete it re-appears. Where would this address come from?

    Ant help would be appreciated

    Thanks
    Marcuss

    Re: DNS problem

As for the first part of your question:
Does the server point to itself for DNS?
Do you have a reverse lookup zone?
Is there a PTR record for the server in the reverse lookup zone?

As for the second part of your question:
Does the server have an "out-of-band" management card? If so, I've seen these registered in DNS.
