  • IPP Printer Driver Installation

Possibly off topic for the server forum, but this seemed the best place. Mod please move if another forum seems better

Windows Server 2003 SP2 AD environment.
Installed IPP service in IIS and have no problem browsing and managing printers
Client is XP SP2. Added new printer at http://server/printers/printershare/.printer.
Printer was picked up OK but prompted for a driver.

Is there any way the client can download the driver when connecting by IPP, just as it would when connecting to a normal shared printer over a LAN?

I know I can always make the drivers available for download, but it would be a lot easier if the driver installation was "silent"

    Thoughts appreciated!

    Hello Tom,

We are having the same problem. Since it has been a while since you posted this, we were hoping that you already found the solution.

If you know more about this, are you willing to share it with us?

    Many thanks in advance!
