  • HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. Help please

    hi ...

i have this intranet at work which users can get reference numbers for their letters, the system was working fine,, when i came and created a database for 2008 i'm getting this error

i didn't change anything in the iis , it was working fine for the year 2007 but i don't know why it's not working now

i checked the ASP.NET 2.0 under Web Service Extension and it is marked allowed..

    any help please?

When you click the submit button you get this error right?

If you are getting the URL from the new database you have to check the database.

Re: HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. Help please

Download and install Microsoft Network Monitor 3. Run it on your machine and start a capture using a capture filter of HTTP. Go to the web site and do whatever you do to generate the 404 error. Stop the capture and look in the description column for the frame with the 404 error. This line will show you what file or directory is missing and you can then go fix it.
