  • some active sessions display IP address instead of computer name

I am wonder what I need to change to have all current sessions in (Computer Management -> Shared Folders -> Sessions) display either IP address or computer name. Right now it's all mixed.

I believe that has to do something with DNS, but all settings look OK on the computers showing up only as IP address.

    Environment:
    Server 2003 Std SP2
    Win XP SP2
    All Cisco switches and routers.

    Thank you

Do you have a Reverse Lookup Zone in your DNS?

I do have rDNS set up, I cn ping by IP and hostname, tracert and nslookup works as well.
However, I was just testing several machines using nslookup, and there seems to be a problem.
      nslookup 10.10.10.10 resolves to pc1
      but
      nslookup pc1 resolves to 10.10.10.20

I am going to prune dns entries, and that might fix the problem.

Indeed, rDNS entries had many invalid entries, I changed "aging" and checked "scavenge stale resource records"
In addition I marked "Use this connection's DNS suffix in DNS registration"
        Problem solved.
