  • Windows 2003 Intermittent Blue Screen since 3 weeks

    Hi,

We have installed a brand new HP Proliant DL360G5 with Windows 2003 R2 and Exchange 2003.

We did test this box in lab, all was ok. So we put it production with slow migration from Exchange 2000 box this box.
For about a month all was ok, no problems and no errors.

But since 3 weeks the server crash with blue screen each week. Previously I had RealVNC installed, so I suppected the software. I uninstalled and rebooted to server.

I am lost. I found nothing about the errors.
    Could it be memory problems?

There is only one way to check for memory problems and that's to run a memory test. This is a test that Microsoft provides on there website.

    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

You can put it on a CD-ROM then boot to it. Let it make a few passes through the memory before quitting. This will let you have a better understanding if your memory is at fault.

      Have you installed any updates??

Start with testing as much of the hardware as you can.

Proliants are usually very good when it comes to diags. (this comes from experience with Proliant 1600 when they were Compaqs)

Personally i would use Memtest to test the memory and allow it to do about 5 passes before you stop it.
