  • DNS Issue: Foward a internet website domain name to a local web server

I have a 2003 server acting as a primary domain controller.
    This domains name is whatever.local.
    I have a website domain name, secure.anotherdomain.com.
I also have an IIS server that acts as the host for secure.anotherdomain.com

I would like to configure the the domain controllers dns server to forward local requests for secure.anotherdomain.com directly to the local IIS server instead of to the public IP address of the IIS server.

I have tried to accomplish this by creating a new primary forward lookup zone called, anotherdomain.com (because my existing forward lookup zone is whatever.local). I then added an aname with a host name of (same as parent) / local IP address of the IIS server and then a cname with an alias name of secure. This was all done under the the new forward lookup zone.

Right now after all this the website domain name still resolves to the public IP of the IIS server and I'm not sure what to do at this point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    when testing?
