  • Using ISCSI on DC?

    Hi

I'm implementing a storage unit in our network.
One of the options which I want to use is ISCSI.
The storage integrator told me the it's not recommended to use ISCSI on a DC
Because the server will see the other network card ( the one that is connected to the storage and implementing ISCSI ) and DNS problems will be created.

    So my questions are :

    1. Can I use ISCSI on a DC?
    2. Can I make the DNS ignore what it sees on the second network card?
    3. Any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Yaniv

    Re: Using ISCSI on DC?

i have a second network card doing the exact same thing. i didnt do anything special, but i did remove the protocols not used by the card for disk access. like it has no IPv6, NetBIOS, QoS, or client for MS networks... just the protocol for the disk access...

and i guess you could change the DNS entries on that card to be non-existent. like 1.1.1.1. or something... does it give you a problem with it installed or have you tried yet?
its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

          Re: Using ISCSI on DC?

          Hi

          First of all thanks

Dav9, your suggestion is the only one that I didn't do before.
Now there is no Dns record for the second network card.

Yuval, I will continue looking at the posts you mention.

Next week I'll continue the storage implementation, and we'll see if problems will occur.

          Thanks
          Yaniv

            Just an update

Everything is working well so far, and I don't see why it shouldn't continue like that

            Thanks again
