I can't join child domain ! Why ? help me

  • I can't join child domain ! Why ? help me

    I have a root domain and a child domain . A client join to child domain but it can't . Why ? I don't know about configuring DNS server for root domain and child domain .
    root : 192.168.1.1
    child : 192.168.1.5
    client : 192.168.1.6

    Help me !!!

    Domain structure is not related at all to your IP address structure
    I would suggest at least one DNS server in each domain with appropriate static IPs

    Can't post any more without my sunglasses

            I presume your root domain already has a DNS server configured on the DC -- since you are using Active Directory one is needed and I doubt you set one up separately.

            For your child domain DC, check "admin tools" to see if the DNS snapin is there. If not, run the "Manage my ser ver" wizard to add DNS.
            Once you have done that, you will need to set up zone transfers between the two.

            Can you please post more information about your domain structure (names -- disguise if needed, servers & roles, IPs etc)
