    Hi all,

we want to start working with EFS.
I +- knows how it works, and know you can share files on file level.
    Not on folder level.

Is this correct ? What if you want to EFS protect a share with 10 people?
Does every file has to be manually shared or can this be done on folder level ?

    Thank you

    Hans

EFS only allows the person who originally encrypted the file to open it. XP and 2003 add the ability to allow other people to decrypt the file, providing they have a locally cached public key (or you can find it in a shared storage such as the AD).

Anyway, files cannot be shared. Only folders. Share the folder and place the files in it. Now try to open the encrypted file from another computer. Even if you're the same user you'll get an error message. Try it and let us know what you got.

Just remember to instruct your users to export their private key to a floppy or disk on key and keep it in a safe place. Do the same with the recovery agent's key.
