  • Pushing out bookmarks in IE

    Hi,

I've got two questions, but they kind of go together.. Is there a way to push out Bookmarks in IE to users? Via a GPO or otherwise?

And secondly, is it possible to restrict users from installing those gosh darn toolbars in IE (Yahoo, Google, etc?)

    Thanks
    David

Strangely enough. I found the answer

Under User Settings there are GPO's for setting bookmarks..

However, I'm still wondering if it's possible to prevent users from installing toolbars..

    Thanks
    David

      you can do that also...

      user conf> admin templates > windows comp. > i. explorer > toolbars:

      Disable customizing browser toolbar buttons
      Disable customizing browser toolbars

in addition, you may want to restrict the installation of these 3rd party toolbar add-ins... like Yahoo!, google toolbar, and such...
its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

Hi James.. I think I asked my question incorrectly.. How could one restrict users from installed those third party add-ins?

        Thanks

you mean "from installING those third party add-ins?"

you will need to create a software 'prohibit install' for those applications. download this little xls for the GPO settings. it will help you find crap alot easier. just use a search to find what your looking for...

          Group Policy Object Settings

i would also go ahead and download all the software you want to prohibit installation of, cause you may need some specific details about the programs to restrict their install.
