do you need such a large pagefile?
I can recommend this book for reading:

Without the use of the PAE switch in the boot.ini file or without SP2 the maximum pagefile size is 4GB. If you want to enable a larger pagefile size then set the PAE switch or install SP2. Also, I would recommend that you set the MIN and MAX pagefile size to the same so that a static pagefile is created. Otherwise you will get pagefile fragmentation which could cause performance issues.

          OK thanks.
just for clarification if i've 3GB MEM on my server
the recommendation is to put the "Initial size" and the "Maximum size" in my case to 9216MB?

I would put the MIN and MAX at 1.5x or 2x physical RAM so it would be 4068MB or 6144MB for both MIN and MAX.

in my oppinion you don't need to set such large pagefile if you don't need it..

Re: increase page file in C drive

With 3GB RAM, consider a 3GB fixed size pagefile, preferably on a second physical disk

You will get better performance with this than with a bigger, but variable sized PF as no time will be wasted resizing on the fly. A different disk (not partition/volume) will mean you are not trying to write to the PF and read OS files at the same time.

Unless you need full dump files in a crash, don't bother having a big PF on the OS partition
