  • support tools not working from command prompt

Ive installed the support tolls to a new DC. I can run dcdiag and other tools when I goto start, programmes, support tools, command prompt.

when I go to start, run, cmd I seem to get a different command prompt or different directory and when I type: dcdiag.exe, nothing works and it says bad syntax etc..

on my other DC's when I goto run, then cmd and I type dcdiag, it works.

old dc says C:\documents and settings\administrator> this one is fine!

the DC which doesn't has: C:\documents and settings\administrator.domainname> and nothing works!

    any ideas?

sounds like a missing path setting.

go to the C:\program files\support tools and try again.
