  • How to reinstall a dynamic DNS Active Directory-integrated zone

    Hi

We have a setup with a 2 servers. One a DC and the other an Exchange server (not a DC) - all 2003 and patched up with all the latest service packs etc.

The 2 servers seem not to be talking to each other although they have been working fine - I think we have a problem with DNS - DCDIAG gives the following error. I have tried most things from all the forums I can find but nothing seems to work. So my question is how do I start from scratch to reconfigure DNS when active directory is involved.

    Thanks for any help

    Domain Controller Diagnosis

    Performing initial setup:
    Done gathering initial info.

    Doing initial required tests

    Testing server: Default-First-Site\CDSDC
    Starting test: Connectivity
The host 2bc69ab4-8fda-47f2-80b7-d695a516e9c9._msdcs.xxx.yyy.local could not be resolved to an
IP address. Check the DNS server, DHCP, server name, etc
    Although the Guid DNS name

    (2bc69ab4-8fda-47f2-80b7-d695a516e9c9._msdcs.xxx.yyy.local)

couldn't be resolved, the server name (cdsdc.xxx.yyy.local)

resolved to the IP address (10.0.0.3) and was pingable. Check that

the IP address is registered correctly with the DNS server.
    ......................... CDSDC failed test Connectivity

    Doing primary tests

    Testing server: Default-First-Site\CDSDC
Skipping all tests, because server CDSDC is
not responding to directory service requests
