  • Roaming Profiles across Routers

We have just set up roaming profiles on our network, we have an office in London one in York and the other in Coventry, UK. Some Group policies were also set up as part of the whole process the main one being the ‘Limit Profile Size’, and a couple of others like ignore slow network connections e.t.c. The offices are connected by Routers and there is a DC in each location. The problem we are having is that when a user from the London office goes to either Coventry or York to work, the roaming profile is not fully downloaded, let me explain: If user A from London goes to the Coventry office and Logs in with his/her username and password(we are a Windows 2000 mixed mode domain), you can tell that the profile is roaming when you check the status of the user profile, but the amazing thing which we have been freaking us out for the past week is that the user’s Microsoft outlook profile is not downloaded as part of the roaming profile, this is evident from the fact that it prompts for the outlook 2002 start up wizard. This is not the case if the user is London. Is there anyone out there with the same problem? Or is this default outlook behaviour? Thanks in advance for all your contributions.

Are you pointing to the user's profile share using fully qualified DNS name of the server or plain netbios name ?

I would run rsop.msc (XP and up) to see what GPO settings the client is receiving

We are using \\Servername\profiles$\username and this is in the user's profile path in AD.

Worth a shot to check whether \\Servername.domain.tld\profiles$\username fixes the issue.
