  • How to tell Printing Count?

    Hi

I'm looking for a way to export print events from event viewer.
I need to be able to know how much each user printed, and the document name.
If i export using "event log explorer" i'm getting all of this data but in one cell.

Is there any other software for this kind of procedure?

    Thanks
    Yaniv

Theres plenty of commercial software -- just for print monitoring or print cost monitor.

      First of all, Thanks

But I need a way to see the print jobs that were printed in the last 6 months.

All of the print monitoring Software ( that I've found ) will only shows the printing
      after they were installed.

That why I wanted to get a log from the event viewer.

      Thanks

I think your stuck then i'm afraid.

The easiest way to do it is to filter event id 10 from the last 6 months then search each event individually.

Either that or script it using VB Script so that it pulls the required info from the event.

          Tried the script you suggested.

Nice, but it doesn't show the description.
And in the description is a lot of data.
Username, how many pages were printed, the file name and more valuable info.

          How do I extract it?

          Thanks

Don't know how to extract it from there.

I would imagine you would need to add aline thats say's

            strFile.WriteLine ("Description: " & objEvent.Description)

This is purely a guess on my part and no doubt one of the scripters will help out more.

              This should actually read

              strFile.WriteLine ("Description: " & objEvent.Message)

If you want something a bit more elaborate then i'm not your man but adding that line to the above script defiantaly works.
