  • disable Auto Windows Logoff after 10 min

    Hello,

    hopefully anyone can help me.
    I have installed a windows 2003 Server.

I have one Problem. After 10 min (with doing nothing) I am automaticly locked off from the machine. I have to do the ctrl-alt-del and logon again.

Is there a way to disable (deactivate) this function?

    Screensaver is allready disabeled...

    Any ideas???

    Thanks a lot!
    wulfi!

You will have to contact your system administrator or desktop support team.

      hi,
you want to try this :

      1. At a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2003-style User Accounts application.
      2. On the Advanced tab, clear the box " requires users to press ctrl+alt+del "
      click OK.
      3. click Ok

How will this prevent the user being logged off?

          sorry,sorry,sorry, guys ,
it doesn't has to do with it all
( I might have been on crack when i wrote that )

But it has to do with Group policy,
I set it up the same policy to lock all computers of domain admins if not used for more than 15 minutes,
i show you on monday when i get in the office,
          cheers,

This is most certainly done with Group Policies. I do not remember the exact location off the top of my head, but there is a setting in your GPO's that allows you to specify how long to wait before locking a workstation. I think it might be under computer settings --> security. Something like that. I have not taken a look at Group policies lately as ours are set up and have not needed to be changed in quite some time. Hope this helps. I will check back on Monday when I go back to work

Re: disable Auto Windows Logoff after 10 min

There are few things that don't fit to each other here...
wulfi, you didn't say if you are working in an AD or workgroup environment.
And what do you mean by
              Screensaver is allready disabeled
              ?
That you choose None in the Display Properties -> Screensaver -> ScreenSaver? Or that it is grayed out? If is the latter, then a Group Policy is applied, thus you should talk to your Network Administrator, as Tom said.
The settings for screensaver in the GPO reside under: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Control Panel -> Display. The setting dealing with the time is Screen Saver timeout.
To conclude, please provide some more details:
              - is your server member in Active Directory?
              - are you the man in charge with the Active Directory/Group Policy settings?
              - how is your screensaver disabled?

in my network is done through GPO :
User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Control Panel -> Display

                Policy Setting
Password protect the screen saver Enabled
                Screen Saver Enabled
                Screen Saver timeout Enabled
Number of seconds to wait to enable the Screen Saver

                Seconds: 300

                  Does wulfi too?
