  • Print to local printer from remote machine

    Hi,

I am connected to a public server and i am trying to print few reports from there, the problem is the server is not listing out the local printers connected to my machine.

Can someone help me out with this?

Note: Remote machine is windows server 2003
    Client machine is windows XP

Is the printer on the server shared?
If so, is it listed in Active Directory?

      How you are accessing Server?

If using RDP Client, then have you checked "Printer" under Local Resources tab?
      Cheers!!

The printer is a network printer which is there in the client network, as the server has a public IP address it's not receognizing this printer. This printer is not listed in the server machine, but i am accessing the server through the client machine.

Have you checked the server's EventViewer for errors related to the printer? If the server does not have the right drivers installed, it usually does not map the client's printer. And an error is written in the EV.

              I got the problem solved

              I did this !

On the server running Terminal Services: 1. Click Start, point to Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Local Security Policy.
              2. Double-click Local Policies.
              3. Double-click Security Options.
              4. In the right pane, double-click Prevent users from installing printer drivers.
              5. Click Disabled, and then click OK.
              6. Close the Local Security Settings window

              Thanks to everyone !
