  • Run programs at boot time in 2003

I am trying to track when a server is booted or rebooted. I want to run a CMD file program each time my server is booted to output a file with a date/time stamp to note when the server was rebooted but I do not know how to do it.

I tried putting the CMD file in the startup group but it runs every time someone logs onto the server. I also tried putting it in the autoexec.bat file but I get the same results, it runs every time someone signs onto the server.

    How do I do this?

    Thanks in advance,

-Open the local computer policy (Start -> Run -> type in gpedit.msc and press enter)
    -Expand Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Scripts
-In the right-hand pane, double-click Startup and add your script.
