  • IIS & W2k3

I have a windows 2003 standard server with Exchange. Its just a 'test' server that I want to use to run some software. I've installed IIS as well as a few other windows components and they all appear in their respective places, except for IIS. I dont see it anywhere!! it doesnt appear in Administrative Tools or anywhere in the control panel.

This is the first time that I've seen this issue. I've loaded plenty of Win2k3 servers with IIS and never had this problem.

    any suggestions?

    1. Search for inetpub directory.
    2. Go to Start > Run type inetmgr. This will open IIS Snap-In if IIS is installed.

Also try telnet on port 80 from Sever itself.

Check Services : www service, iis Admin Service, HTTP SSL are present.

This way you can check if IIS is installed properly or not.
    Cheers!!

      1. www service is installed and running
      2. I cannot run inetmgr - command not found.
      3. I cannot telnet on port 80 either. i'll attempt to telnet on port 80 and it will take about 1 minute to complete and it will just put me back to the regular cmd prompt. no errors, just a prompt.

      any suggestions? I'm stumped.
