  • How to backup your DCc

    Hi Guys,

i have two DCs at work, both 2003 server.
We also have a backup server with ArcServe.
the DCs are not backed up at all (Yeh, Ouch).
What will be the best way to backup both DCs, or at least one?
    i have read this
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../aa997537.aspx
i don't know if to use ArcServe, and install the agent on both DCs or to use NTBackup, i am going to use ArcServe, unless somebody has a better offer for me.

    Thanks,
    Retaliator.

Re: How to backup your DCc

If Arcserve is your agent based backup solution for your environment, then use that to back up your domain controllers.

Ensure that you are backing up System?State data when you create the backup selection list.

It's not a bad idea to back up all domain controllers. You can't use a backup set from DC 1 to restore DC 2, DC 3, or DC 4. If at any time you might need to restore any given DC, you better be backing them up.

I backup system state of EACH server i backup with arcserve or if i'd use nt backup as well.
So best solution is just regular backup the DC as every server..?
i know system state on DC add more files to the backup but the backup is similiar.
      Thanks, Retaliator
