    Hi,
    Now responsibility of backup has been given to me. My problem is not my job my problem is there are many diffrent utilities available for doing same job (backup). I am confuse between Veritas and Windows ntbackup utility. Which one should I pick up. Do any one know the difference between Veritas backup Exec and Window 2003 backup. I am not sure which one to choose. any suggestion please

    As always, a bit of research will pay off.

    NTBackup -- Free with Windows
    Others -- $$$ involved

    What do you need to backup (single server, multiple servers, Exchange, SQL...)
    What do you need to backup to (Tape, file, removable drive, floppy disk...)
    How often do you need to backup (Daily, weekly, hourly...)
    How quickly do you need to restore (SLAs etc)
    Do you need "bare metal" recovery

    Lots more questions you must answer before you can investigate the best option. You have a very good friend called which may help you
