  • DFS with replication on 2003 Server Standard R1

I just setup DFS on Server 2003 standard (release 1) and of course it does not support DFS replication.

Is there a way to enable DFS replication without upgrading to R2? I could do it with robocopy, but it would not be the most efficient way to replicate over 800,000 files.

    Thank you

Doubtful. Much of DFS was re-written from the ground up in R2 to become much more robust. I don't think it's going to be as simple as a registry hack in R1.

Also, I'm not sure I'd want to place that much burden on DFS or AD to replicate 800,000 files, then again I'm not sure how well the new version of DFS scales. It may be fine. Best to check with Technet though.
