  • 2003 Server won't accept logons

I recently setup a new server on a pre existing network that has a sbs 2000 active directory dc. Everything went fine and the active directory users and everything copied onto the new one and all the shares and printers work fine. The new 2003 server is doing all the dhcp and dns. The problem I encounter is when I shutdown the old server no one can log onto the domain correctly. When they try to get to the mapped drives it says there is a problem with passwords. The pc's still get an ip address and dns and can go onto the internet but can not access any network files/printers. I went into the active directory sites and checked off the box for global hoping that would help but it didn't unless I have to wait a long time. I just can't figure out why the new domain controller won't process logons. Thanks for any help.

I am not sure about it, but would assume it's related to FSMOS roles,
    check this.

I changed all the roles except the schema master. I wonder if that is the one causing the issues. I will have to try changing that one. Thanks for the link.
