  • Change of SNMP community in windows server 2003

Can anybody please explain how to change the SNMP community string? Please explain from scratch. Which options to choose etc. How it effects your system?

Open the services (through computer management) on the 2k3 server
Right click SNMP service, choose properties
Community string will be on one of the tabs
You will also want to configure the SNMP Traps and security (usually read only for public, read/create for your private community string)

Do I've to type in manually there or there is a default value "public" in there? I don't see any value in communities. Is there any way I can do this via Gpedit.msc ?
      Thanks

Type the name in manually. You may or may not choose to keep the default community name of public. Since it is a well known name, you should use an alternative community name for your read/create community string.
