  • Why do we need ASR disks? [was: its bit confusing]

    Hi,
We can recover lost data from our backups. so why we need ASR disks? Why ASR what they are for? it is confusing me. I am under the impression that if I need to restore data i'll get it back from backup. if system gone completely. i'll boot it up put OS back and get every thing back from backup. so what is purpose / advantage / use of Automated system recovery (ASR)?
