  • secure RDP connection on Win XP (Home)

    Hi Guys,

i have read some articles and googles, so i want to allow my home pc to be open for RDP connections while i am at work, friends, familly and so.
i have changed the PORT on registry editor, and allowed that new port on Windows Firewall.
    I have set a username/password.

How else i can secure my RDP connection (Windows XP Professional).

    Thanks,
    Retaliator.
    Thanks & Regards

    hi Retaliator,
you can secure the connection by using several precautions. One thing and the important most is update your antivirus program. Next thing you can do is use strong passwords for your users. Use file sharing security and NTFS security for your data files.

Re: secure RDP connection on Win XP (Home)

I am a wee bit confused. The Thread Title say Windows XP (Home) but in the post you refer to Windows XP Pro? XP Home doesn't have Remote Desktop unless you install the client.
        1 1 was a racehorse.
        2 2 was 1 2.
        1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
        2 2 1 1 2

Ya a bit confusing. I think he/she is referring to Win XP (Home) to literally mean the Win XP at Home [Maybe?]. Not the version of the OS. Which as it turns out is a very bad choice of words.

Do not forget to update the new version of RDP. you can find it here.

But someone here know if the RDP is encrypted?
