  • Wsus 2.0 Out Of Memory

    Hello all,

I'm a bit embarrassed here but I don't know how to correct this...I have a WSUS install v2.0 on a DC. Well, I'm out of disk space now. I don't have to tell you what that does to the DC. Could I get some direction on SOP for this? Can I just delete downloaded install files without breaking WSUS since I can't even access the console any longer.

    Regards,

Re: Wsus 2.0 Out Of Memory

So I moved the entire folders of some dated stuff in .\WSUSContent and that seems to have given me some space to play with...atleast the DC is functional again, as well as WSUS. I had no idea I needed to monitor this but live and learn. Heck, I don't even know what happens to the older updates as the folders indicate modified dates of just roughly 6 months past. I have greater space on a different volume so I'm gonna try a complete move of content following Mr.Gate$ offered how to.

This reply may be a bit late.

I too ran into the same issue on our WSUS Server and had to move the content. Below is the command I used and it moved the content and updated the database for me and WSUS continued to work after the move

      C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools>wsusutil.exe movecontent x:\WSUS_Update_Files\ x:\WSUS_Move_Log

The command moved the content from the current location to x:\WSUS_Update_Files\ and logged the process to x:\WSUS_Move_Log.

The location you are moving files to must exist.

I found the command instructions from Microsoft's Windows Server Update Services Operations Guide (begins at the bottom of page 58 )

      Hope this works for you.

        Hi Nateh,

Yep, that's what I did. It worked and everything looks stable. But, I haven't received an update that was downloaded last night to the server yet. I'll give it one more day then start looking into any possible issues. (wuauclt.exe /detectnow).

Oh and for anyone doing this...create the move_log file first from a .txt file and rename the extension to .log
