  • XP Direct Connection Dial in Client Cannot see Server 2003 Shares

    Hello,

I have a Windows XP client configured with an Incoming Connection.
This means a remote XP laptop can dial into this machine.
The XP Client (with the Incoming connect) is in a workgroup - as are all machines)
I have a Windows 2003 server with some shares.
If I log on locally to the XP Incoming Connect machine I can connect to the shares on the 2003 Server.
However if I dial into the Incoming Connection XP machine, using a laptop with the same workgroup name and an account that is configured on all boxes with the same name and password, I can see the 2003 server in the list when trying to map a drive, but cannot see any of the shares.
I can see the XP Incoming connection servers shares!
Is this a browser related problem?
Ive enabled the access my LAN option on the XP Direct Connect machine.
Any advice/or help would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Johnny

    Hi Johnny.

There are certain things that need to be configured so that dial-up users can access the local network.
Check out this link and see if you have it setup properly http://www.zdnetasia.com/insight/net...0223c-1,00.htm

Let us know how it goes or if you have any questions.
    Regards,
