  • Problem adding new scope to dhcp on 2003 server

Hi all, we have 1 scope on the dhcp server the scope range
    Is 172.25.5.*
    255.255.0.0
I need to add another scope with the
    172.25.20.*
    255.255.0.0
When I try to wizard a new scope I get an error that says that the mask
    And ip have duplicate problem.

How can I add new scope on the same subnet?

    Thanks
    Zozobra

Your subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 for both scopes.

To be a bit more specific, the subnet has to be longer than 16 bits (the first 2 octets). This is because the first 16 bits (the first 2 octets) of both networks are the same.

Zozobra, do you understand what Wired has just posted? If not, read the links in my post (the first one was reasonably good) and then post back with questions.
              1 1 was a racehorse.
              2 2 was 1 2.
              1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
