  • The DSA object cannot be deleted

    Hello all,

I had a backup domain controller to a Win2000 Server named BDC.
The BDC Server is no longer exist.

Now, I cannot delete-remove the BDC from my PDC Domain Controllers.
When trying to delete it i get an error message “The DSA object cannot be deleted”

I cannot run dcpromo to BDC because it does no longer exist.

Is there a way to delete this object?

    1. In windows 2000, there are no "Backup Domain Controllers". There are only "Domain Controllers".

    2. I think you may have to do something called a "Metadata clean up" to remove this object; you may even have to delete it using ADSIEdit.

    Hope these links help...
