  • Software will not install in 2000 Server

I just purchased a HP Officejet 7140xi all-in-one printer. The system requirements indicated that Windows 2000 was supported. When I tried to install the software I find out that only Windows 2000 Professional is supported and it will not install on Windows 2000 Server. Is there a way that I can fool the installer into thinking that I am actually running Windows 2000 Professional? Perhaps a registry setting?

    Any help will be appreciated,
    Spencer

Here are the latest drivers HP have posted.

Have you tried diabling the antivirus before installing the drivers?
Have you tried installing them in Safe Mode?

    2 2 was 1 2.

Yes I have disabled my virus scan prior to the install. Per your suggestion I also tried to install in Safe Mode. In both cases I still get the same results, the software will not install because Windows 2000 Server is not supported. The message I get is:

HP System Check has determined that your system does not match the requirements specified on the box.

The following items do not meet the minimum requirements:

Your operating system does not match the supported operating systems or service packs.

Have you spoken to HP about this problem?

Yes I have, and they do state over the phone that they do not support Server. That is why I had hoped that there might be a way to spoof the installer into thinking that my system was really professional. Looks like it is about time to request a return authorization number.
