  • Facing problem while creating ADC

    Dear friends,

We have main PDC as windows 2000 server with SP-4,& While i am trying to make ADC on windows 2000 Server with SP-4,I am getting following error:

    The operation failed because:

The Directory Service failed to replicate the partition CN=Configuration,DC=domain1,DC=domain2 DC=org,DC=in from remote server nagrodc.domain1.domain2.org.in.

"The replication operation encountered a database error. "

What is the possible resons of that ?
Microsoft help pages tends to some hotfix ,but it is not avilable there.

    Waiting for your response..
    Regard

Re: Facing problem while creating ADC

Try running dcdiag and netdiag on your exsiting DC.

What happens when you browse to the DC (\\server_name) you should see a netlogon and sysvol folder.

          AADC is Active Directory Connector

          and not additional Domain Controller

This Additional domain controller is creating for disaster situation.
If our main Domain Controller fails,Is there Active directory Connector working & have all the users in it with out main domain controller ?

What is the best solution you can suggest to go for this situation ?

Did you run Dcdiag and netdiag on your DC as I suggested?

If you install the windows 2003 support tools from the 2003 media and then look for any errors. If you get stuck then post the output and we will take a look

Have you even attempted to diagnose anything with the help of ???

I think you have missed some text from the dcdiag results during the copy and paste. If you check where it started to fail, during the kccevent test.

Please try and copy and paste the full results

Why do you need an Active Directory Connector???

Have you ran DCPROMO on the new server?? Was it successful??

It looks to me like there is a DNS issues as it cannot resolve the host name

An Warning Event occured. EventID: 0x8000062D

                        Is your DNS working properly??

Can you post an IPCONFIG /ALL from both servers and highlight which one is the new one.

Have you checked the event viewer for errors???

You won't get the hotfix until you contact Microsoft.

BTW the other issue you have is related to this issue as your AD database is corrupt and that is why the backup is failing.

Have you recenltly removed a DC from your network?? Has one recently failed??

Looking at the first MS article i have found it is something to do with an orphaned NTDS setting.

                            See this

and this for the work around.

Give this a try and see if you get any different results:

                              dcdiag /V /TEST:KCCEVENT

Have you ever had a domain controller on the network that died and you haven't cleaned up the metadata info?
