  • Identifying windows 2003 R2

    Hi everyone,

    How can I find whether I have windows 2003 SP1 or windows 2003 R2?
    Let's say that I am at a client that doesn't know what was installed on
    his machine, is there any way to identify the exact version?

    Thanks,

    Tal

    Two ways:
    1) Right click on My Computer -> Properties. On the General tab you have the info regarding the version of your OS or
    2) Start -> Run -> winver.

    Voila...

    Good luck.

      You could either:

      open a command prompt and type in "ver" and press return (would give you the full version number), or have you tried right-clicking "My Computer" and selecting "Properties"? The "Version Name" of the OS is in the lower right corner of the "General" tab - for 2003 SP1 it should say "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1".

        There is no difference between windows 2003sp1 and 2003r2 in winver, computer properties, and system information

        I installed two machines in my lab: one with 2003sp1 and the other r2 and they are both identical.

        Can someone help me please?

          R2 usually has an icon on the desktop. Can't remember what it is.

          I'll check tomorrow at work.
