  • permissions ( read, write, delete, scan )

Hi once more. I'm a network administrator "student". I need to grant a new employee permissions to a folder, registry keys, network printer, SQL server database objects and active directory objects. Which permissions ( READ, WRITE, DELETE, SCAN ) does a new employee need for most of these objects?

Permissions you grant people vary greatly from situation to situation. I'd say do a bunch of searches on and post back with any specific questions.

        Do you mean this:
        -Right click file or folder
        -select Properties
        -select the Security tab

Is that what you wanted to know?

What are you trying to achieve ? As J said, it depends on your situation.

If you don't tell us exactly what your needs are then there's not much else we can do.

Although is you are really in doubt and cannot answer the above, start with the lowest level permissions (i.e Read Only), and work your way up until you achieve the desired results.

          Topper.
