  • NetBIOS over TCP/IP

    Hello again

    Situation:

I have AD installed on DC on VLAN1 ( followed Petri instruction )

    I have clients on VLAN2.

    No WINS involves in this.

If I enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP ( default setting ) , the newly clients will be able to join the domain.

If I don't enable it then the newly clients won't be able to join the domain.

Question: What could be the problem ?

    Thanks!

What is the client's OS ?
Are the clients pointing to the same DNS the DC is registered in ?

      Client OS : WindowsXP

All of the clients point to the same DNS the DC is registered in ( DC running DNS as well ).

I notice that port 445 is blocked. Would it be a problem ?

      Thanks!
