  • Exchange 2000 restore onto a new server

I have an Exchange Server 2000 sat on W2K server.

I moved all the roles and demoted the W2K Server
So the Config/Gc/DC roles are all on other W2K DC's

I have a new Windows 2003 Box, that I want to place exchange 2000

I know I can install Exch 2000 onto windows 2003 Server.

But what I want to achieve is setting up so its like for like from the Exchange point of view, all public folders and mailbox stores restored.

Does anyone have any nice links or suggestions on how to achieve this goal.

I have a Test Enviroment Setup identical less exchange server, so obviously i can put new server into test and perform this in test first.

We don't use webaccess etc, it is puerly Public Folders and Basic SMTP / Exchange Mailbox access. No Instant Messaging etc.

If anyone can suggest a path can they let me know

How about installing exchange 2000 onto the 2003 server and adding it into the existing organisation. Configure the server accordingly and then migrate the public folders and mailboxs onto the new server. Once finsihed configuring the server switch it off for a few weeks to ensure everything has successfully migrated onto the new server.
