  • Profile migration

    Hello!

I upgrade network in our organization.
Existing network: windows 2000 server + windows Xp clients

New network: windows 2003 server + XP clients

Profiles: stored locally on client computers.

Our developers would like to retain their profile settings and asked me
    to migrate their profiles.

Is there any software which will allow me to save existing profile, then I'll join workstations to the new domain, and then I should be able to restore existing profile settings?

    thank you for help,
    Mihail

    Re: Profile migration

    Have you tried
    2nd hit http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true

BTW - are you making it more complicated than necessary? You can just join the 2003 machine to the domain, run forestprep and domainprep, run dcpromo on the 2003, transfer FSMO roles, then run dcpromo on the 2k machine (if you're looking to decommission it).
After that you would have a 2003 AD domain and not have to do anything with user profiles.
