  • Remote management of a satellite office and it's domain computers

I was just wondering. I have three satellite offices around Australia. With the current domain comuters in those offices, I can remotely manage them by RDP.

But what if one of the offices buys a new computer which needs to be added to the domain? I don't want to give the users in that office the domain credentials. How would I add the computer to the domain without flying up there each time?

    Windows 2003 server. WinXP clients.

By default every user in the domain can join up to 10 computers. Don't need admin privileges.
    Does that suit your needs?

        JeremyW,

When I join a computer to a domain, the system asks me for the domain admin username & password. If you do not have that info, your computer can not be joined to the domain. This is what I'm trying to avoid.

I suppose if the computer's networking setup is setup for DHCP, I can get one of the office workers to setup NetOp or VNC or something, then I could probably connect remotely to it and join it.

        I'll have to test this.

Not true. You only need to have local administrator privileges and have the credentials of a user in the Domain Users group
