  • Help with rights to join PC to domain

    Hi guys,

this is my first post here, but I have been using the advice from here for a long time now. thanks - it has got me through some tough times.

    anyway to the point:

I have been looking everywhere to find information on allowing a specific user to join any workstation to the domain but not have administration rights over the domain - basically keep the standard set rights like all other users but have this one added feature.

    My question is this:

    1) is this possible

    and

    2) can you point me in the right direction on how to do this.

The Server is running Server 2003 R2 Standard with Exchange 2003 Standard.

    Thanks for your help.

Have a look at Account Operator.

    Post back with further questions.

by default every user in the domain has the right to join any workstation to the domain. by default, the limit is max 10 workstation ( you can edit this limit through asdi edit

when users try, they get an access denied error. by what i have read it looks like they don't have the rights to add a computer into the AD..

hmmmm... i think i may have just answered my own question there.....

i will let you guys know.

          thanks
