  • Backup Configuration

    Hello to all.

I have 6 servers that i backup with backup exec and a robotic library, with a differential backup every night and a full backup on Saturday.I have the backups overwriting the media at the present time ,is there any disadvantage of this or should i use the append feature. Basicly im looking for opinions on a good backup solution for ease of recovery.

    Servers
    1 Dc, DNS DHCP
    2 Dc2, Replica
    3 Exchange
    4 IIS
    5 Misc File server
    6 Wsus server

    Thanks in advanced

    Re: Backup Configuration

What is the ammount of the backup and what kind of media do you use?
    LTO1, LTO2,LTO3 etc.
What is the "time window" for backup and restore?
    Good Luck

      Re: Backup Configuration

The amount of backup is about 330gb, and im using LT02.
Backups take about 1 hour for Diff, and about 12 hours for Full.

        Re: Backup Configuration

i think that youre using the right method for backup.
you didnt mention what kind of library you use but
if you have many backup media then you can use the append option in order to get more then one set of media, other, use the overwrite method
        Good Luck
