  • Exchange 2000 Fragmentation

    Hello Everyone!

    My problem is the follow:

    I have an IBM X236 with SBS2000 SP4. Exchange SP3
    3 Giga of RAM

Every few day i start to receive in the event viewer the event id: 9582
with the details "The virtual memory necessary to run your Exchange server is fragmented in such a way that normal operation may begin to fail. It is highly recommended that you restart all Exchange services to correct this issue. ". if nothing is done than few days later the exchange crash and i have to restart it.

I did what microsoft said in the relative article (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883527) and ask for the hotfix, but (what a suprise!!!!) it didn't worked.

Does anyone have another (better) solution?

    Thank you

Thank biggles77 for your fast reply.

i don't want to disappoint you but (after reading a lot of articles in forums and some you pointed me to), i still didn't find the solution, a real one.

many of the people who had the same problem couldn't solve this even after tweaking the registry, put swicthes, and more.....

If you have the answer i'll be more than glad to try it!

      Thanks again

        Ok, how about this one?

Is there anything else running on this server other than Exchange?

Thank you guys for helping me getting out of this.

Sorry Biggles77 but this article (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=325044) only tells why it happen but doesn't give a real solution.

It may sound stupid, but the only "seems to work" solution is to reduce from 3 to 2 GB of memory until MS will give us an SP that solve this.

I didn't give it up, so if you have something else don't hesitate guys!!!!!

            Thank again

Ok, I refind the search a bit more. See if there is anything new here. Sorry, but I didn't read them.
