  • Is password proection for printers possible???

At the moment i have a client that has 2 colour printers that they want password protected. The drivers that they have installed do not have an option for password protecting the printers.

I was just wondering if it was possible to password protect a printer at the Operating System rather than the driver level and if so, how it is actually done.

    Thanks in Advance.

What are they trying to achieve? Why do they think they need to "password protect" a printer?

You could set up a security group and then add the users you wish to grant access to the printer.

Personally i've never heard of it.

As with Michael setup groups and grant permissions that way.

If trying to restrict and/or monitor users, then Papercut is a software program that monitors printing usage. Credits can be applied and when the user runs out of credits, no more printing.
