  • SBS2008 exchange email sending issues

    Hi there

Over the last 6 months I have been having an issue with the exchange server suddenly and randomly stopping sending mail out.
    Incoming mail seems unaffected.

We use MX DNS mail and not POP connectors

The way we have found to get it to come back to life is to restart the router. It is then fine for another period of time when it happens again.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so what have they done?

Of course you do because POP isn't used for sending email.

The way we have found to get it to come back to life is to restart the router.
Then I'd start with replacing the router.

      Hi Thanks for your reply,

Yes, sorry about the comment regarding the POP connector I realise that was a fairly obvious comment to make!!

Anyway, I have changed the router but mail receiving is now the main issue as it was before we changed it.

It will work some of the time but then stops again without warning.

Subsequent router restarts do not seem to sort the problem.

Exchange is not high up on my technical ability and any help is appriciated.

      Thanks in advance

        An update....

I have taken down the firewall on the router and attempted to ping the servers ip address. It failed.
Also I attempted to telnet into the smtp server but that failed as well.

Im just wondering if it could be a ISP static ip issue now!!??
