  • SBS 2011 Default Exchange Retention Policy

    Hi All,

I'm not entirely familiar with retention policies in Exchange 2010. I was wondering what the default SBS 2011 retention polices are or how I can find them out?

I need to make sure that any emails deleted from a users deleted items folder are gone forever and don't stick around.

    Thanks!

Retention Policies are an Enterprise CAL feature so you will need additional licenses to use them - for that reason I suspect there is nothing enabled by default.

There is however a setting (database limits tab, over-ridable at the user level) to "keep deleted items for 14 days" with an option not to permanently delete until backed up. You could change this to a shorter time
