  • Authentication Issue

    Hello,

Hopefully someone can give me a clue on this issue i ran into:
    Server 2008 R2 and SBS2003 domain controller.

On the 2008 server - one specific domain user is unable to authenticate with the domain controller. The user IS able to log in, but seems to be outside of the domain - my indication is Kerberos Authentication Tool and some deployment tool not able
to authenticate. Nothing in the even viewer.

With this Kerberos tool, I am able to authenticate fine when specifying the user credentials manually, but not when authenticating automatically with the logon credentials.

    Also:

C:\Users\x123>wmic useraccount where name='%username%' get sid
    No Instance(s) Available.

On the same server, administrator user operates fine.
On a different server, the same 'problematic' user operates fine.

    BTW,

At one point, after a restart, I noticed that there was a sid, but a second later is was gone:
C:\Users\x123>wmic useraccount where name='%username%' get sid
    SID
    S-1-5-21-210916386-3632565436-336716851-3838

C:\Users\x123>wmic useraccount where name='%username%' get sid
    No Instance(s) Available.

C:\Users\x123>wmic useraccount where name='%username%' get sid
    No Instance(s) Available.

Obviously, I also tried to reboot and rejoin the domain.

    Any other suggestions? ?
