  • Known issues w blank pwd when installing SBS 2k3?

Are there any known issues for installing SBS 2k3 with a blank administrator password?

I am unable to logon following the reboot after the SBS component is installed.
    Logon in safe mode works.

    Dell PE 1800

    Thanks,
    Reggie

Conclusion: Re: Known issues w blank pwd when installing SBS 2k3?

I do not know why SBS would not allow a logon with the blank password... my actions:

    Boot to safe mode
    Change admin password (net user)
    Boot to SBS, login
    Change admin password using wizard

    Done.

    Thanks,
    Reggie

AFAK blank administrator passwords aren't allowed to logon into a domain.

Obviously a really long password is a good idea, but in certain situations, a blank one may be even better. In an environment where you can guarantee physical security, you do not need to use the account across the network, and you are using Windows XP or Windows Serverô 2003, a blank password is better than a weak password. By default, blank passwords can only be used locally in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. If the account password is blank, the account is not valid as a network credential.
