  • Pop connector issues in sbs 2011- bad headers stop delivery

Had an issue with the built in pop connector for sbs 2011. Apparently once the connector finds 5 messages with bad headers it stops any further mail delivery.

I implemented a work around from this article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archi...connector.aspx

But wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if there is a better solution?

The better solution is direct SMTP delivery to your SBS
The POP connector has always (AFAIK) been considered an interim solution while you are migrating to SBS and shoul be replaced when you can

I thought you would say that, but the complicating factor is that there are two offices - one running sbs 2011 and managed by us with 10 users, and the other with around the same number of users, but managed by a third party IT company - and this office is over the other side of the country.

We both are responsible for the same domain (not ideal I know) and we both download mail via POP from a hosted web server.

What would be the correct way to do this, based on this limited info?

Ours is sbs, but I don't know about the other site.
Anyway, I have now been made aware of a kb that addresses the issue:

          http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2418914

So I'll give that a go first.

The way I have done the 2 office situation is to make the SBS authoratative for the domain (ie collects all mail from SMTP - NOT the web site). The other branch uses branch.domain.com as its mail address and DNS suffix. All mail not for the main office is then forwarded to the branch office which also uses the main office as its smarthost.
